Tobia Scarpa, (1935, Venice, Italy) is an architect who, with the professional and personal help of his wife, also an architect, Afra Bianchin >(1937, Montebelluna – 2011, Trevignano, Treviso, Italy) signed architectural projects that belong to the historical heritage of their region (Veneto).
Afra Bianchin and Tobia Scarpa began their joint career in the late 1950s (1957 to 1961), working as designers at the Murano glass factory Venini. >.
The couple was strongly influenced by Tobia's father, Carlo Scarpa, who was also an architect and designer, a professor at the Università IUAV di Venezia (University Institute of Architecture of Venice, a public university of architecture, design, theatre, fashion, visual arts, urban planning and territorial planning).
