Studio Odile Decq
Odile Decq opened He started his own studio right after graduating from La Villette in 1978, while studying at Political Sciences in Paris, where he completed a postgraduate diploma in Urban Planning in 1979. International recognition came quickly, and in 1990 he won his first important commission: the Banque Populaire de l'Ouest in Rennes.
The numerous awards and publications that distinguished the building underlined the emergence of a new hope born directly from the punk rebellion that turned old conventions upside down. By questioning the commission, the use, the material, the body, the technique and the taste, Odile Decq's architecture offers a paradoxical look, at the same time tender and severe, on the current world.
She was awarded the Golden Lion in Venice in 1996. Since then, Odile Decq has been faithful to her fighting attitude, diversifying and radicalizing her research. Completed the MACRO (Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome) in 2010, the restaurant of the Garnier Opera in Paris in 2011 and just completed the FRAC (Museum of Contemporary Art in Rennes) in July 2012.
